Rich History in the Heart of the Sunshine Coast

The Currimundi Hotel, located on the northern boundary of Caloundra in Currimundi, has a rich history dating back to 1984, when it originally opened as the Coolabah Hotel Motel. The hotel underwent several name changes over the years, including Stewarts Hotel and back to Coolabah Hotel Motel, before becoming the well-known Currimundi Hotel, or Curras as it’s affectionately called by the locals.

A strong connection to the hotel’s early days remains with the gentleman who built the blockwork of the hotel in 1984 and was one of the first to enjoy a drink at the bar. He continues to be a familiar face, attending the Tradie Club every Friday.

In 1993, when it was still called the Coolabah Hotel Motel, the venue featured a pool competition on Tuesdays, Party Karaoke on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a Punters Club on Saturdays. At the time, pots were priced at $1 and spirits at $2, with a classic bistro offering such as homemade soup, Blue Ribbon Rib Fillet, and chicken Kiev, all for just $9.95.

Today, the Currimundi Hotel is a welcoming destination for all, featuring live sport, raffles, dog days, and more, plus a variety of accommodation options with a heated swimming pool to enjoy all year round.
